Wii Fix

If any of you ever get a super annoying wirrrrrrr from your Wii, let me know. I fixed mine with some ingenuity and a ton of curse words. It would only do it when a game is in and it was loud. I had to turn up my audio just to drown it out. I have a first release Wii and it started making that noise about 8 mos ago. I just couldnt take it anymore. I only had one part left over after my fix and thats because I oopsed it a few times learning it. That nintendo has a genius machine right there. Its crazy how they fit all of that stuff in that tiny mahine.

Re: Wii Fix

Mine did that too! The bad news is a few weeks after it started, the whole thing crapped out and I had to send it in for repair, but the good news is that procedure is pretty easy, and pretty fast.

Make sure your WiiConnect24 is shut off when you shut the system down (the LED light should be red when it is off, not amber). When the WiiConnect24 is constantly on, it is generating heat, and heat=bad for electronic parts.

The whirring came from a piece of aluminum rubbing against the plastic on the piece that hold the cd down. I put a peice of folded paper between the plastic and the aluminum, voila noise is gone.
