This is 4 days old so Im sure the firmware is not accessible anymore. But I thought I would throw it out there in case.

It does look like a pretty major update. I also read that Sony is offering to repair/replace any PS3s that were bricked by the firmware at their cost.

Thats a first for Sony. Those guys are all about screwing customers. Must have taken a look at what Microsoft went through for losses.

Pretty much no questions asked, which is good for me9(i had to act dumb about not know what happened) . It may be refurbished, but its better than a broken down machine that wont power up. It looked new.
I was surprised at how quick they did everything and how the paid all the UPS next day air for everything. I was expecting to pay for something.
However i first tried to talk to a few DB customer service people on the phone, they were no help and kinda rude. I simply hung up and filed a warranty claim online instead.

Isnt it amazing how much more friendly the web is to consumers. Its no wonder people are losing their jobs to automation.

Really? I haven't updated mine yet, but the biggest thing to me is that you can get back to the main menu without having to completely exit a game. You can pause your game and chat with a friend, check on a download, jump on the internet, etc.
At least that was my understanding of the update.
