Re: 9 Villages For Free

This may seem like a dumb question but what game are you talking about?

Re: 9 Villages For Free

But confusing/frustrating to start. I still don't have much of a clue what I'm doing, even after more than a week.

Re: 9 Villages For Free

I have two villages: Roman (Odessa, 99/-181) and Gaul (LorchRussell House, 80/-330). In the quest where you choose economy or military, I went economy with the Romans and military with the Gaul.

In Odessa, my fields are all 3s except for two forests and the four iron mines (production is 48/54/36/30 with 60/90 pop). I just have a main building 3, granary 1, warehouse 1, cranny 1, and marketplace 1. (And the 1 Rat...) I'm going off the Roman guide from the forums right now, and just getting my fields to 3 while totally ignoring buildings. Basically, I upgrade the field of whichever resource I have the least of; as soon as I have enough of everything, I start construction, and then have to sit around for another 6 hours while resources get built back up again. Is that the right thing to do? This is on server 3, which is the "Classic" version 2.5 of the game. For lack of a better plan, I was going to keep slowly upgrading my fields until I reach the point where I can bring in the resources needed for building construction in just a couple hours, as opposed to half a day or more. This leaves me WIDE open to farming, since I have lots of resources and literally no defenses, but it's all I can think to do. Am I going about this wrong?

In LR, my fields are all 2s except for three iron mines at 1 and a crop at 3. Production is 36/36/24/9 with 51/60 pop. I have a main building 3, granary 1, barracks 1, rally point 1, and cranny 1. (Also 2 Phalanxes and 1 Rat.) Here I'm still working on the last quest, getting all my resource fields to 2, but then I'm just in the same position as Odessa: I don't know what to do after that, other than aimlessly upgrading or building things. I know I can attack and raid other villages, but it seems like I need dozens if not hundreds of units to do that successfully. I need 6 phalanxes to take out 1 rat with only 1 casualty... There are TONS of inactive villages around me; I'd love to raid them for much-needed supplies, but I can't figure out how to do so without my army getting slaughtered.

How do I get rid of the Rat in each village? I can't seem to do anything with them, and they're just eating up crops.

In Odessa, my fields are an even split between 2s and 3s (production is 36/48/36/33 with 57/90 pop). I just have a main building 3, granary 1, warehouse 1, cranny 1, and marketplace 1. In LR, my fields are 11 2s, 6 1s, and a 3 (crop). Production is 28/36/24/7 with 49/56 pop. I have a main building 3, granary 1, barracks 1, rally point 1, and cranny 1. (Also 2 Phalanxes and 1 Rat.) Rats in the village? I have never seen that, but I have never played one of the quest servers.

To raid inactives you usually need to hit with at least 3 troops, I prefer to hit with at least 10 so you can get some resources back. If you are not under attacks at all, I would spend every single resource you have on bumping up your field production. Nothing else is as important as resources when you first start.
