xbox live help

ok, i have xbox live and i want my xbox in my room but it is upstairs, and our router is downstairs, btw, we have wireless internet, (maybe 50-60 feet away),
i would like to have xbox live in my room, but i was hoping not to have to buy a wireless xbox adapter, i've never used one, but is it slower than just using an ethernet cord plugged into the router and xbox, cause i want to have really fast xbox live, so any help would be great, and also where could i find a really long ethernet cord (like a 100 ft one), and if it would be that long would the xbox live connection be slow? once again any help or tips would be great

Thank you for beating Iowa

I bought a 50 footer at Best Buy. I didn't notice any lag at all.

Re: xbox live help

I have the wireless adapter for my 360, no slow down, either in games or downloads.

And I, Bruno, will dive 1,000 feet into a block of cement. On my head, yet!

50ft of cat5 on monoprice.com is crazy cheap, like $6 +shipping, and you get all sorts of neat color choices! Don't, repeat, don't go to bestbuy to get any sort of cabling, same cable at Best Buy will run almost $50. My situation I just didn't want the hassle of running the cable so I went with wireless, but wired will almost always be cheaper.

Re: xbox live help

Cables are a huge ripoff at the big box stores. I didn't want to spend $100 on a wireless adapter from MS, so I ended up setting up a WAP right behind my entertainment center and then hardwiring my 360 from there. Works fantastic, and only cost me about $40.
