Rules & Roles

Factions

Innocents – The villagers of Villagetownville.
Mafia – Sent by the mob bosses from the east they are invading Villagetownville to take its riches.
Recruiter – Marches to the beat of his own drum. He is just as evil as the Mafia but has no affiliation with them.

Innocent

Villager – Your role is simple. Work together with the fellow innocents to drive evil out of town.

Doctor – You are the protector of the innocents. It is your job to protect the most valuable people in town in the hopes that they will be alive to eliminate all evil that comes their way.

In the event of your death the Mayor will randomly choose another innocent to take your place. However, this also means that you cannot self-protect. You may protect the same person each night. A person under the Doctor’s protection is protected from investigation by the Detective, death by the Mafia and recruitment by the Recruiter.

Detective – You learned your role from your ancestors. Like those before you, your job is to root out the evil by investigating the residents of the village. You may investigate one person per night. If you investigate an innocent there is a 20% chance they will become your Deputy. There can be only one Deputy at a time. If the Detective dies the Deputy does not gain his ability to turn another innocent. If you investigate a recruit, he will die. If you investigate the Recruiter, you both will die.

Deputy – An innocent who is lucky enough to be turned by the Detective. Each night you can investigate a person of your choosing. Your investigations are incapable of killing.

Innocents win when all other factions have been eliminated.

Evil

Mafia – Like those that came before you, it is your goal to run over the town and reign supreme. You will know who your other Mafia members are and can PM each other.

Each night, every living Mafia member should PM the Mayor their vote on who to kill in the town. The Mafia only needs to achieve a majority in their nightly voting to make a kill.

Mafia wins when all other factions have been eliminated.

Recruiter – Your role is a new one. Unlike the hippie Mafia you work on your own terms and decide which direction your team will take. Your goal is the same as the Mafia’s, take over the town.

Each night, PM the Mayor a name of someone you would like to recruit. If the player is a Villager you will recruit that player to your team, with a 10% chance of killing them instead. Beware that if you recruit a Mafia member they will forgo their planned kill for the night and kill you. If you recruit the Detective you and he will kill each other. If you recruit the Deputy, you will kill him. If you recruit the Doctor, he will kill you. Your team of recruits may be no larger than five (5) members at a time, including yourself. Upon conversion a PM will be sent to the Recruiter and recruit to notify them. They may then begin to communicate over PM.

Recruiter and his recruits win when all other factions have been eliminated.

Special Rules

1. No posting of a PM sent by the Mayor
2. No editing of posts
3. No outside communication regarding the game (PMs, IMs, personal conversations)
4. Only the Mafia and the Recruiter’s faction may PM.
5. Day is from 9 A.M. to 9 P.M., night will be the other 12 hours, unless noted Saturday from 9 A.M. to Sunday 9 P.M. is one "day".
6. Ghosting in lounge is preferred.
7. One million credits to be split among winning team.
8. Not voting for two consecutive days – You will die a tragic death. Maybe with lightning.
9. Starting on Day 2 - Each player must post three times per day, not including a vote - If the post minimum is not met for two consecutive days you will die a tragic death. Maybe with lightning. Or fire ants. Perhaps from The Clap.

Votes should be done in the following way:

To cast a vote: I vote to eliminate XXXXX
To rescind a vote: I vote to rescind my vote for XXXXX

Make sure to bold all votes.

Ha Ha No kidding. I would have felt sorry for all of us to have them playing again.

For those wondering, I used Random.org's List Randomizer to assign roles. Fortunately, when I randomized Hobbsfan got a role as Innocent. Made it easy to remove him then.

Yeah nobody wanted to tell you but as your brother I feel like I should...you are already the town a-hole and it wasn't something that was assigned..sorry brother

One thing I want to add to everything. All of you should have noticed in your PMs that I included small amounts of "flavor text". I plan on writing stuff like that up for each death. Usually a paragraph or two to tell the story and keep people involved.

If you have suggestions for your flavor text feel free to PM them to me. I think this could be just as fun as the game itself.
