Yeah Boise maybe 1 now but other than Nevada they have already played their tough part of the schedule. The interesting team I found was TCU at 3. They still have Air Force and a top 10 Utah yet to play.
Would love to see Boise State and TCU or Utah end up one and two. We'd see an eight team play-off next year.
Could you imagine if both TCU and Boise are perfect and have Va tech and Oregon St. as auto qualifiers for being ACC and Pac 10 champs.
How ridiculous would it be if the national championship game was Boise vs. TCU? How weird would that be? It'd be insane. Cats and Dogs, living together!
Makes sense to me that OSU is down below Oklahoma. Oklahoma is one of the few teams that actually took on a tough nonconference (stronger than boise state or tcu's nonconference), so they've got more
Honestly, id put a 1 loss Big 12 or SEC team ahead of an undefeated Boise State. Its harder to go through those conferences (esp SEC) with only one loss than it is to beat a now unranked va tech team, take a week off, play wyoming and then play oregon state. Oklahoma, Nebraska, Auburn or LSU, as 1 loss teams, will have more quality teams they would have beat on their resume than Boise State will, regardless of the fact that they arent undefeated.
Ohio State is ranked fifth.
I'm not surprised that Boise State is number one as they have earned it. I also wouldn't be surprised if both Virginia Tech and Oregon State (teams that Boise State has defeated this season) win there respective conferences and become automatic qualifiers to win their respective conferences.
I'd take Boise State at this point over ANY team in the nation in a one game take all championship.
If I'm not mistaken, this "projection" is total BS. Ohio State is ranked 1st in both the USA Today and Harris polls. BCS rules now state that computer polls cannot unseat a consensus #1 by the polls.
I don't buy this at all.
There are by my definition three quality teams in the Big 12 this year; Oklahoma, Nebraska, and Oklahoma State and not every Big 12 team is playing all three of those teams. So Boise State should have as many quality wins by the end of the season as essentially any team from the Big 12.
I don't know any team in the country that schedules more than two real teams that are non-conference opponents.
The bottom line is that I believe that in a head to head match-up Boise State beats any team in the nation.
It's not crazy to think it could happen. There's no undefeated teams left in BCS conferences that you can look at as locks for finishing 12-0 or 13-0. All those teams have land mines left on their schedules
I'm as big of a Beavers fan as a Cyclone fan (since I'm an alumni of both schools). Having said that the way that Boise State wore down what I considered to be a very talented Beaver squad convinced me that Boise State is the real deal.
