Do you have any idea what kind of effect going to Conference USA/MWC would have on Iowa State University? Not just the athletic program but the research money, the enrollment, the negative effects on academics? As wrong as it is, sports success has a direct effect on student enrollment and their long term ties to the university. It gives a bond and reason for future donations from alumni. It doesn't matter if you like it or not, it is fact. Just ask people that work in donations if it is easier to get alumni to donate when the athletic program has success vs failure. There is a great sense of pride associated with success and that pride carries on to other parts of ISU.
I am sorry if I do not like people that constantly rip on my University. The place that provided a great education for my wife and I. The place I met my wife and had our first child. The place where I met my best friends. The place where my daughter will be attending to get her degree. Holy overreaction!

That said, I agree Jon needs his co-host to have a personality (because he does not have one).

I feel for Jon because if he had a cohost that had any sort of personality, it would have worked. Also, the constant changes the BTN threw at it didn't allow them to get their feet set.
Bottomline is the BTN works and those that rip on it are either oblivious or jealous. I would like to go on record that I didn't rip btn only jon miller. Your network has been so successful that it nearly destroyed the big 12 and almost cost ISU millions of dollars. Thank you for being so awesome and sharing your intellect on our board...

Just curious because someone is asking me to be sympathetic for a guy that was cheering for ISU to drop into Conference USA. I understand what effect that would have on the University as a whole and the City of Ames and its businesses. It would reduce income and that money would have to come from somewhere else. Why should I feel sorry because jonny lost his Big 10 gig? He sucked and openly rooted for ISU to be hurt and therefore openly rooted against anyone that makes their living from ISU's success. I normally don't feel sympathetic for people that suck at their job and ridicule others. Let alone that he openly cheers for my Universities failures. If I sucked at my job, I wouldn't expect people to feel sorry for me.

So if some of you lose your jobs and people make fun of it online - that's ok?
Classy stuff.

That said, if Tazclone was doing the morning show, and the university of iowa was in ISU's position, would you pile on? Say Iowa was facing a demotion to Conf USA, could you be objective?
I know for a FACT i'd drill the hawks into the turf if given the chance. Even if i TRIED to be fair, i'd surely come across as smug and sarcastic. I can't be any other way to the Hawks... Jon struck me as the same way.
It's impossible for me to hope for anything but pestilence towards Iowa...

It's impossible for me to hope for anything but pestilence towards Iowa... I grew up a hok fan in a hok household. I also know that if iowa were to get kicked out of the big 10 that it would hurt the state of Iowa and ISU. We share the same tax base and the same Board of Regents. College football brings a ton of $$ into the state. It is the biggest reason I want to keep the iowa/ISU game going. So no, I would not openly root/cheer everyday for 2-3 weeks for iowa to fall to a lesser conference. I would throw jab in here or there but I would not want that for iowa or there fans. I do hope we kick their arse every time, though
Also, if I claimed to be a journalist/reporter and there was story that broke that iowa would get an invite to the Big East (Not conference USA), I would report it and discuss it. But then that is me. That honestly is the biggest gripe I have against Jon

Classy stuff. I'm not making fun of Jon, its more like constructive criticism. Maybe after reading this thread, he'll become a better sports talk guy, thats more humble and kinder to ISU... -

Classy stuff. - If I lost my job because I sucked...go right ahead and ridicule. I have sucked at jobs before. Good thing, is I knew it, left the job and found something I was good at. I had no issue with people telling me I sucked. Fact is, I did.
- This isn't Jon's only income and he has stated he will be just fine
- See all the other reasons, I don't like Jon
- There are plenty of people that I don't like because of their narcisism. I have no problem with those people getting knocked down a notch.

Classy stuff. Perfectly fine. Especially considering Miller's occupation is largely based on being critical of others on a medium that reaches a wider demographic.
Although Miller likes to intertwine the two, there is a difference between making fun of, and stating why something is subpar.
Interesting that some of the same people on CF that are so quick to feel the need to whine about negative comments about Miller on a limited audience medium like a message do not understand why some protest malicious actions by those on channels with much larger audiences.
