Boise State vs. The Others
Joe Schad is reporting some interesting information with regards to Boise State and how the MGM Resorts Sports Book would setup the lines if they were to play each of the top 10 teams right now. Here is how the betting lines would look on a neutral field:
Boise State favored against:
vs. TCU (+3.5)
vs. Oklahoma (+4.5)
vs. LSU (+7.5)
vs. Nebraska (+6)
vs. Auburn (+4.5)
vs. Michigan State (+9.5)
Boise State underdogs against:
vs. Oregon (-2.5)
vs. Ohio State (-4.5)
vs. Alabama (-6)
While it doesn't mean much, I would put more stock in this than the Coaches Poll who don't even watch the other teams.
Re: Boise State vs. The Others
That's interesting. I think I agree with that for the most part. The argument against Boise State isn't that they couldn't beat a top ranked team, it's that they wouldn't go undefeated if they played in the SEC, Big 10, Pac 10, or Big 12.
Re: Boise State vs. The Others
Is everything i thought it would be. The problem is this.
Not many are argue that Boise could beat every team in the coutry in a 1 game setting. It's do they deserve to have that chance to play for a title when they dont go through the same guantlet that Bama does in the SEC.
Can boise do it every week, throughout a season, and not just 3 times. Basically Boise plays 3 bowls games a year, and thats it. Bama has like 7 or 8.
Boise is really good, thats not the problem.

This.
It isn't that they can't beat top ranked teams. It's the argument that they wouldn't go 12-0 while playing the schedule (at least the 8-9 game conference portion) of the AQ Top 10 teams.
Re: Boise State vs. The Others
Not to totally hi-jack your thread but I saw some lines I would love to bet on...
Nebraska +6 v BSU
BSU -4.5 vs. Auburn
Oregon -2.5 v BSU
BSU +4.5 vs. Ohio State
Alabama -6 v BSU

How many bowl games do tOSU, Nebraska, and Oregon play this year? Boisie has a very easy schedule but ti isn't like all the other temas play a bruising difficult opponent every week. Maybe the SEC but not the big 10/Pac 10/Big 12.
TOSU has tough games agaisnt iowa and Miami and Michigan. Penn St is a shell and Wisc is the most overrated team in the lst ten years.
Nebraska-toughest game will be a down Texas or OSU and Mizzou. Other than that no one on their schedule is a world beater
bosise tried to play a good ACC team and did play a quality Pac 10 team beat them both

I agree with what you are getting at but I wouldn't lump the Pac-10 into the easy conference group. Oregon will have to play Oregon State, Stanford, a down USC, Arizona, ASU is no push-over, as well as going to Tennessee earlier this year (I'll admit Tenn isn't great but traveling 2,000+ miles and playing in front of 100,000 people singing "Rockey Top" isn't easy). Don't sleep on the Pac-10!

Take Iowa's next three games for instance. @ Michigan, Home vs Wisc & MSU. When was the last time Boise St played 3 top 30 teams in consecutive weeks. OSU finishes with PSU, @Iowa, Michigan. Oklahoma plays Texas, ISU, then @ Mizzou. Oregon finishes with @Cal, home vs Arizona, and @ Oregon St. Not all great teams by any means, but when played in a row like that it adds up.

What about Boise's old school logo?

This should get them in.
