Says he is in the market for a big name-like Tubby Smith.

Hello, he already coaches your basketball program.

Minnesota Gophers look to make splash with new coach, athletic director Joel Maturi says - ESPN

There is nobody out there with a big name that would take that program over. They need a good coach. They got lucky that tubby was on his way out. The only coach they could hire with a splash would be Mike leach. That would be a good hire for them.
Nobody but HB knows for sure. You pretty much know nothing....like Knownothing would like to say.

Mark Mangino would make a pretty big splash, if you know what I mean...

I was going to say this. Throw a bunch of money at Mike Leach and send Tech a "thank you" card.

I don't know, they have good, new facilities and Big 10 money. That's going to get some people listening. I hope they don't target Leslie Frazier, though. I was kind of hoping he'd be the next head coach for the Vikings.

Tony Dungy is the most "Tubby-like", and he's an alumnus, but I read that he's already said no.

I am from MN and cheer for the Gophers, but I don't have a good feeling about the search. Just don't think they will pony up the dough that they should.

Actually, Maturi already asked Tubby if he could coach the football team.

I'd love for them to throw some money at Leach. Keep him out of the Big 12.

If they get Leach, Iowa fans are gonna go nuts. Northwestern's spread already seems to give them fits, I'd be interested to see what Leach's Air Raid could bring to the Big 10.

I just have a feeling that Malzahn will chizik the U if he's hired and Geno is fired after his incompetence getting exposed.

Since it's not my school I would love for them to hire Gus. If it was my school, I would be afraid Gus doesn't have enough connections yet to put together a solid staff as he hasn't been in the big-leagues that long. Maybe they can hire Childress and get a home-town discount.
