Re: Big East FB Expansion
Big East would be great for TCU. Its not like they dont already have a huge travel commitment in the MWC, and they could get into an auto-bid conference.
This would also **** over Boise State again, which I am just fine with. The next question would be, who will the MWC poach to replace them..

I'd rather have Boise finally end up in a legit conference so we can stop the constant debating about them. The MWC is going to end up being WAC 2.0 if TCU leaves, but Boise isn't going away any time soon.

Re: Big East FB Expansion
The problem with bcs conferences elevating teams into the bcs is that if the **** ever goes down with four 16 team megaconferences it means more teams to pick from other than isu. Also, less room for us to crowd into another bcs conference if the bigxii goes down.

The more teams that join BCS conferences, the less likely there will be FOUR megaconferences and the more likely there will be FIVE. I still think Texas controls all of the cards and they won't divide the pot 16 ways unless it is to their advantage and it will be in the Big "12" if it happens.

Re: Big East FB Expansion
There was a time where ND was practically begging to be part of the Big Ten, but the Big Ten just kept looking the other way. Now, if ND had to join a conference, they wouldn't join the Big Ten, unless we're offering them tons of money or something.
They'll likely go to the Big East, where their other sports are, and where they can likely gain the upper hand. At their current state, I don't think they're any better than the middle of the pack Big Ten teams. Most certainly wouldn't be heading to a BCS game if they play the way they have in the past few years.

Re: Big East FB Expansion
TCU to the Big East also dilutes the Texas recruiting pool.

I dont believe so, texas kids dont want to play for Cincy because "TCU didnt offer me a scholarship and i want to show them what they missed out on." I think that is reserved for Texas; T A&M; Oklahoma.

We already recruit against TCU, for sure, but we don't recruit against the entire Big East. Right now the Big XII is the only AQ conference in Texas and I would prefer it stayed that way.

Re: Big East FB Expansion
Big East =/= SEC. I'd worry about having to recruit against a league full of Texases. I'm not overly concerned about having to beat the Big East out for Texas recruits.

They turned the B10 down in the late 80's when they added Penn St. They turned them down this time and they've turned them down every other time they've asked. The B10 has been begging ND to join, not the other way around.

Re: Big East FB Expansion
Yeah they have been talking about TCU and Houston to the Big East for the last week. The reason for Houston is the two schools can be traveling partners.

Re: Big East FB Expansion
Auto bids to BCS bowls need to go bye bye. At the very least if the MWC doesn't get one the Big East should be stripped as well.
A FCS school, Villanova, has a better shot at a BCS bowl than several dozen more deserving FBS team. Half the Big East was not even FBS a few years ago.
Now is ND's time to try to be the "Texas" of their own conference. It'll never happen in the B10. I actually think it's the smart move for them to join up now, 10 team very average football league they can call the shots in, 16 team basketball league second only to the new meat grinder Big 12.
