Doug is very solid fundamentally and is a smart player. He's not a great athlete and needs to develop his strength, but he's the type of undersized forward that MVC schools live off of.

I wonder if there was friction between Barnes and Little Mcdermott. Just me throwing stuff against the wall. However Doug is clearly a good player and could have made it at Iowa State. Wonder if he ended up signing with UNI so that we had a better shot at Barnes. Then Barnes went to UNC. Gmac went to Creighton and Gmac immediatly jumped on Doug to come there. I will call Jesse Ventura to see if this conspiracy theory holds water.
Nobody but HB knows for sure. You pretty much know nothing....like Knownothing would like to say.
I heard GMac say this more than once. He felt Doug's lack of strength and athletic ability would make it tough for him, particularly early on in his college career, to compete in the Big 12. After Doug committed to UNI, he actually grew a few more inches and his game took off.

I don`t know anything about GMAC said prior to Doug`s commitment to UNI. I was told on Feb 3 that Doug was good enough to play in the B12. I did not ask if that meant as a freshman, but I certainly took that as he would be at some point.
Can anyone name 1 major college coach who had a son play at a another school while he was coaching?
I wouldn't stake my life on this, but I'm 90% certain Tubby Smith left a son (G.G.)playing at Georgia when he took the Kentucky job. His middle son (Saul) played for him at Kentucky and his third son played at yet another SEC school (Mississippi State maybe?).
