The NCAA has to make sure they can prove things and they don't have court ordered power like the FBI and police. That is why their investigations take longer

Good to know that Auburn and the SEC have the NCAA wrapped around their little finger.
That would explain why Calipari has gone untouched at Kentucky -

What horse manure. proof that the NCAA and SEC are on the take. I say revoke NCAA tax exempt status and bring it all into the light. Allow students the ability to be paid for endorsements like Olympic athletes.

To paraphrase The Wire; You might win a national title with a guy like that. You might also have to give it back.

Re: NCAA: Cam Newton eligible
Does anyone have evidence that Auburn paid for him? Until that comes out, the only thing is that Cecil was shopping him to Miss St. That is a violation but since he didn't go there we must assume he did not take the money from them. Until there is evidence that he or his family was given money to attend Auburn he will and should be eligible.

They will take Cam's dad down to send a clear and ugly message to the parents and handlers of these kids. I can also see some merit in that approach.

The fact that he was shopped to MSU in the first place makes him ineligible to play ANYWHERE, not just at MSU.
Someone want to post the NCAA Reg for me? I'm too lazy to go search for it...

So if I offered my neighbor $10k to off my wife for me but he declined, I didn't technically do anything wrong?

Re: NCAA: Cam Newton eligible
The NCAA had a great opportunity to send a strong message to the people that are shopping these athletes, but their decision reinforces a perception that money is what that organization is all about.

Again, my guess is that they will let the FBI send the message when the FBI takes Cam's dad down. The FBI has a bit more overall muscle than the NCAA!
