Re: Eustachy still has the fire!!!
And too many people put too much emphasis on those 2 years after the championships without looking at the pieces he had for the next year. Larry would have done more with those players than Wayne did.

Re: Eustachy still has the fire!!!
I'm not saying LE was a good guy off the court when he was here, but he won and took ISU to places we've never been before. With his recruits or not, he still won. That would be like CPR winning back to back big 12 championships and winning a BCS bowl in his first few years without his recruits. Would we still be saying, "aw, he's not a good coach until he wins with his recruits." (I know, not exactly the same thing, but you get my point)
I don't agree with what he did off the court, but he had a couple of really good years at ISU and he gets my respect with that.

If Hoiberg didn't accept, Geoffrey gave the A-Okay to JP to talk to Eustachy. True story.

GG: "Talk to Eustachy yet?"
JP: "Already have an offer out... and I didn't even know LE was on the table."
GG: "Well if you want to talk with him, you can."

Seriously, I've said some stupid stuff before, but you take the cake on saying stupid things.
EDIT: I don't care if you were having a random thought about ISU players doing this, it doesn't make the thought any less stupid.

Re: Eustachy still has the fire!!!
When it comes to Larry, its simplest just to remember him for what he did right and be willing to move on. There's nothing wrong with loving him for what he did here. No reason to pine for bringing him back someday.

I don't agree with what he did off the court, but he had a couple of really good years at ISU and he gets my respect with that. You have your opinions, and that's fine. My opinion is that he was Bo Pelini before Bo Pelini. I believe his undoing was his own fault and was inevitable given the performance of teams and his actions both on and off the court. If the Missouri incident hadn't gone public, it would have been something else.

Yep, you always have to wonder when the HC drives back and forth to road games.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
Re: Eustachy still has the fire!!!
I've been following LE at Southern Miss over the years. I think it was a mistake to let him go but I'm finally happy where ISU basketball is headed again for the first time since that mistake.
Southern Miss is 5-1, 4-0 home, 1-1 road. They play @Cal a week from today so that should be a good game where we can judge where he's at. They were HORRIBLE when he took over, he has improved them to where they are getting 15-20 wins most seasons now. Not quite tournament level, but definitely heading in that direction.
