I think all these posters that think Miami isn't a big time job must all be 20 years or younger. The fact is TODAY, there are more players in the NFL from Miami than any other university. Miami won the NC in 2001 and played for it in 2002. They dominated the 80's and did very well in the 90's as well.

Also, they play in the ACC, which clearly is less competitive than the SEC, Big 10 or Big 12. If you like winning, Miami is a GREAT job, IMO.

    TRB,

With all due respect you don't really think the Orange Bowl or lack there of make's Miami more or less attractive, do you?

You truly think that NU is a better job than Miami?

Because if you do we'll have to agree to disagree.

If Pelini and Osborne sense that they will have to change NU recruiting focus away from TX and more towards the Big Ten states, and if Pelini is not comfortable with that, it may be time to move on.
Ya because Nebraska is doing a really awful job at recruiting in the state of Texas this year .

I'm like 40. I remember Miami being dominate. That's also about the same time Nebraska was too, wasn't their last national championship 1997 or so. Didn't Miami and Nebraska play for the national championship one year? These championships occurred when today's teenagers were peewees. Very similar schools if you ask me. One has more easy access to recruits, the other more money. Both have a lot of political challenges.

I'm just saying I don't think Miami is that much better of a job than Nebraska.

does playing in Allen Fieldhouse matter to KU recruits? We are talking about the Orange Bowl in the state of Florida. Every kid there grows up knows what they heck it is, or used to be.

He misunderstood your post; I didn't. Again, the lack of an Orange Bowl doesn't make Miami less attractive, imo.

Oh, let's not forget that the U is considered less valuable to the city then the pro sports teams. Its a political quagmire down there. Yeah, recruiting is easy, oh, until students have to meet the academic standards of a PRIVATE academic institution with standards. Its like Baylor, but worse. They expect to be national contenders.

At least Nebby has the money and resources behind its football program. I for one don't have any problem with the Nebby fans expecting more out of their program. They have tradition. They have huge fan support. They have better financial resources and are going to have more. I'm sorry, but its reasonable for them to expect to be a powerhouse team. If Iowa can approach that level, then Nebby should be able to too. It at least doesn't have to compete with another power conference in-state school for recruits.

For Nebby fans, football is first. But they do support their other programs like mad when winning as well. Just look at sold out stadiums for volleyball.

Honestly, I think ISU and NEbby fans are so much alike. There, I said it. And people from Nebby are nice loyal midwestern people just like us in many ways. KU BB fans are much more obnoxious than Nebby football fans. Though for those who live in the west of the state, I can empathize its probably like living in KC and being around a whole bunch of KU BB fans. I had my house teepeed and egged the night ISU beat KU in Allen Fieldhouse when I lived in Overland Park, and the ISU flag on my porch was torched.
Good post. Completely agree. The off campus stadium is a huge issue, especially for a smaller, private school. Miami has tons of bandwagon fans, look at the crowd turnout for the games at the end of this season. Nebraska has a much, much better fan base, more money and better facilities. Both jobs come with unrealistic expectations. I think Nebraska is a better job than Miami.

    Re: Pelini to Miami?

All this talk of Miami being a great job is pretty questionable imo. Their fans do not care, and being a private university from what I understand a large segment of the student base does not live on campus. To makes things more difficult, they play in a stadium 20 miles from campus in a city not known to be a sports oriented city. There are positives....tons of local high school talent each year, but I don't think its as cut an dry of a slam dunk job as some think it is.

Since I don't know I'm curious; How far away is the LA Coliseum from USC's campus?
