Big Red Debacle
Webster's definition of debacle: a complete failure. Tom Osborne is on the phone as we speak with his network of contacts trying to "move" Shawn Watson before Pelini does something ugly, publicly, with him. Wingnut and his ilk will attempt the lame excuse that our QB's are not 100%. Sorry, but after T-Magic's early season success, the good teams adjusted defensively to what he brought and Watson did not. All we heard all December was how Big Red got the shaft from the Big 12 by being relegated to a rematch with Washington. I was hoping that Nebraska would represent the old Big 8 and Big 12 well with their leap into the Big 10. Not looking so good now. If Shane Watson is walking around Lincoln this Spring, I will be shocked. Pelini will always have a game plan, defensively, that will allow his teams to have a chance to win...but their offense is not good at all.

I don't understand why Lee wasn't in the game late. Perhaps the coaches said F it, and wanted to see what Green could do in the clutch. At some point they may have viewed it as merely exhibition, and wanted to further evaluate Green considering Lee is a senior.
With NU graduating a TON of starting seniors, they could struggle something fierce next fall. Too bad ISU doesn't get to play them.

Re: Big Red Debacle
Good riddance.
Nebraska got what was coming to them. How many penalties did they have? 12? Must have been the Big 12 refs out to get them, right? And they definitely didn't want to win in such a meaningless game. Actually, Washington didn't win...Nebraska beat themselves, as they always do.
The door smacked them in the *** on their way out.

Shatel: After an ugly loss, NU's back — to the drawing board - Omaha.com
On a chilly night, it was a cold ending to a season that once offered so much promise. Back on Sept. 18, as NU players left Husky Stadium, the season was wide open.
They didn't beat Texas, didn't win the Big 12 and didn't win a bowl game the world expected them to dominate.
It happens. But this was a cruel reminder that the Huskers aren't in a position to just show up. They'd better show up next year in the rugged first year of the Big Ten. And they'd better show up with a dependable offense.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

The future at Nebraska for Watson, after a rough two months to coincide with Martinez’s problems, looks uncertain. Asked if he expected to remain on staff at Nebraska, Watson said he did not know.
“We’ll have to see,” he said.
His offense gained 189 yards, another season low. That’s 344 fewer than in the first meeting.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -
