If he wasn't interested a week or two ago, I don't know why he would be now.

Depending on what actually went down and how serious this was, this guy could easily get fired. It doesn't sound like there were any punches or anything like that. Some times these things are ticky tacky, but it does sound like he grabbed her neck, which isn't good. I would say there's at least a 50% shot this guy isn't the HC next year.

Maybe she just didn't want to go to Pittsburgh and was trying to make him pick between Pitt and her. Of course, it is no excuse for abuse, but this could be a big bad version of buying a new truck without telling your wife and then choosing the truck over her.

Pitt really needs to learn to handle these things internally. Probably why that haven't been invited to the Big10 ... as soon as they learn to cover these things up, institute internal counseling.... they should be good to go for Big10 membership.

Re: Pitt's new head coach arrested today

I doubt that a contract has been finalized for him, and I'm betting that the contract as it had been completed thus far has now been shredded. No reason for Pitt to take a chance with this guy and potential future issues. Just think about it for this guy.......to know that he was on his way to a head coaching job and to whiz it away like this. It speaks to his character and his lack of discipline.

Think about it. Mike Price had been hired as coach of Alabama, the contract hadn't yet been signed, and he got let go just for celebrating at a strip club. There were no allegations of assault or anything of that nature, they just figured it wasn't worth the risk to keep a guy with that potential to make bad judgment.

These things can be really bizarre. The domestic abuse statutes are set up with the horsepower to protect women from guys punching them out, etc. and many much more benign situations get caught up in the sweep of the effort to protect women. You simply don't know what happened and no judgement can be made until more info is available. Was she leaving with his kid in violation ofhis visitation rights? Did he grab her neck because she was coming at him? Cop gets called, has to assess a situation on the fly and most departments have a policy if there's a mark, you arrest. Again, the purpose is to separate and protect the apparent victim.

Well, that's one theory...another is that he didn't want her to move with him to Pittsburgh, yet wanted half-time custody of his kid, she said no, he became enraged and also thought about the increase in child support.

I don't think it was going to the strip club that got him fired, it was the fact that several thousdand dollars were charged to a U of Alabama credit card that a stripper stole (he said) or he gave her (she said)....

But I get your point. It just depends does Pitt have enough money to pay him off to go away and hire another coach away?

I don't think they'd have to pay him off to make him go away if he never signed a contract.
