We play that noncon schedule, we make a bowl too.

The #2, #3, #4, #5 and #8 picks from the Big Ten played today. I think we can say that negotiation for these bowl tie-ins was not an accident while saying that the Big 10 teams winning was not an accident.
But none of that takes care of the key point that those beatdowns were not an accident, nor was the general trend of losing today.

Re: Big Ten's big day!
Big 10 > Big 12 this year. As much as we don't want to believe it, it is true. OU may be the lone exception. Michigan State was WAY over rated this year. But Wisconsin is very good. tOSU is very good. Michigan should not have been playing Miss State in my opinion. Iowa would have given Miss State a better game IMO, not saying they would've won, but they are a better team than Michigan.

With the inception of the BCS, any BCS team could land in Any or All Bowls, take care of things on the field and it could happen.....

Honestly, if it were an option, id like to see the SOS be able to be factored into bowl eligibility, weighed against W-L somehow. Im fine with a 4-8 or 5-7 team making a bowl if their SOS was high enough. Might lead to more interesting nonconference matchups if you get rid of some of the disincentive to schedule tougher games in the nonconference.

News Flash the Big Ten is a good conference, every bit as good as the Big 12 and others Yes, and obviously that reason is because you dominated an average conference. Those bowls are guaranteed to the Big 10, they are not supposed to be overmatched in every game. Yet, here we are.
"He is the toughest I have ever been around, physically and mentally," Burnham said. "You can beat him down but you’re not going to beat him out. He’s got the mindset of, ‘If you’re going to get me out of this game, you’re going to have to kill me.’ That’s about where he is."

The big ten has a minimum of 5 bowls on jan 1 or after, and 6 with 2 bcs spots.

Re: Big Ten's big day!
Michigan is not a good football team. There is no way they should have been playing Miss St today. Northwestern was a pretty decent team until Persa got hurt on their last play against Iowa. He was the heart and soul of that team and by far the most important player for them. They are just not even close to the same team without him. Mich St was wishy washy all year. They played some good games but they also got their arses handed to them in Iowa City.
Being in the Big Ten enables a lot of teams to get into good bowl games. The downside to that is that a lot of times the teams are forced to play up in competition. The Big Ten will almost always send two teams to the BCS (even if they don't deserve it) therefore pushing every other team up a slot. If the Big Ten didn't have two BCS teams you would have OSU vs Alabama, Mich St vs Miss St, etc.
It is what it is and the Big Ten teams get paid well to play these games. It just doesn't always look good in W's and L's.
P.S. UConn should not be playing OK tonight and it is a joke of a game.

Re: Big Ten's big day!
When this happens it's due to unfavorable match ups... ;)
I don't do signatures. Blondes, brunettes, and red heads are a different story. -

The big ten has a minimum of 5 bowls on jan 1 or after, and 6 with 2 bcs spots. TCU just won the Rose Bowl with no automatic tie in, you figure that out......

Anytime the Big Ten sends two to the BCS, they are going to be forced to play teams ranked higher than them. (Unranked Mich vs 21 Miss St) (unranked IA vs 12 Mizzou)
It happens every year. The only game that the Big Ten was ranked higher was Mich St vs Alabama, but most people know that Alabama is a much better team than their ranking.

So, Ron Zook has half of the conference's bowl victories this year?
