Riley Dodge leaving UNT; wants to play FCS immediately

Highly touted QB from high school, but never really panned out at UNT. It will be interesting to see if he gets an FCS gig...

That was a terrible idea to hire his dead at North Texas a few years ago...Why would you hire a high school coach (granted it was one of the best in Texas) to run a college program??

Another little tidbit...

By the looks of it, Dodge was offered by Rice. He committed to UNT on 7/1/2007. Tom Herman was hired on at Rice in late January 2007, so Herman would have been the offensive coordinator at that time Rice offered Dodge.

if i remember correctly he was offered by texas as a "legacy recruit" but only to play safety not qb ... when his dad was hired by UNT he offered his son to play qb with the possibility of becoming the starter .... while it looks dumb now, todd dodge,his father, had alot of success in texas hs football ... look at him like a malzahn type guy ... alot of colleges were after him to become their OC - similar to malzahn, but UNT took it to the next step and offered him the HC job ...
