I just saw on the bottom line "BCS Title Game draws largest ratings for cable TV show in history"
Beat the 2009 Saints-Patriots game apparently..
They will spin in that they don't have to compete with over-the-air ratings. They compete with cable ratings...which I'm sure they did extremely well. Its all really a great business plan for ESPN. Get the best games everyone wants to see, and then force people to pay outrageous fees for it because they have no other option to see it.Quote:

Having the BCS on cable is stupid.
ESPN doesn't care about viewers. They care about subscribers. And ESPN will continue to dictate whatever subscription fees they want to carriers.
The Big Ten Network model is the same -- and that sure hurt us last summer.
I hate how I have to pay for cable, and then watch probably the most commercials I've ever seen for a football game.
What probably only matters to ESPN is whether or not they hit the viewership targets that were promised to the advertisers.
Quality fact checking by USA Today. Last year's game was on ABC since they had the rights to the Rose Bowl and any BCS game in that stadium.
