It will be interesting to see how ESPN spins that...
They will spin in that they don't have to compete with over-the-air ratings. They compete with cable ratings...which I'm sure they did extremely well. Its all really a great business plan for ESPN. Get the best games everyone wants to see, and then force people to pay outrageous fees for it because they have no other option to see it.
600,000+ watched last night's game on ESPN3.com. TV ratings have never taken into consideration those watching at sports bars or watch parties with a few friends in a private home, now in 2011, you can say that the ratings don't take into consideration those 600,000+ who was on ESPN3.com watching the game.
600,000+ watching via web streaming is pretty impressive.
