Michigan Football
Usually I'm not a fan of 1000 different threads on the same topic, but I thought this was different from Les Miles' decision to stay at LSU.
Michigan has just hired Brady Hoke to be their Head Football Coach.
Also, Michigan officially was the attendance leader for football this past year.
1. Michigan
2. Ohio State
3. Penn State
4. Alabama

Hoke to be Michigan's next Head Coach
Michigan Football (michigan_fball) on Twitter
That's official if you're wondering.
Let me first say, as Michigan is my secondary team, that I will support Brady Hoke.
I do not, however, have sufficient evidence to predict he will resurrect this program. He has a below .500 record in 8 years with pretty marginal competetition. Sure, people will point to one good season at Ball St. that ended in two thrashings and the fact he has turned SDSU around. It took him 6 years at Ball State and this is just his second at SDSU so I'm not going to hop on the Brady Hoke Resurrection to Championship Bandwagon. When Rich Rodriguez was hired, he had a much more impressive resume. According to most, Hoke came after Harbaugh, Gruden, Miles, and Pat Fitgerald at least. There may have been more like Peterson and Patterson. Clearly, this wasn't the first option. I have a real problem with waiting until January 12th to hire Brady Hoke. This class will be very poor and the attrition will be through the roof. Not a big deal except for right now, Michigan was bordering APR sanctions and bringing in Hoke will almost assuradly push that over the edge. That's what happens when you comepletely change philosophies twice in 4 years. People leave. Denard is going to leave. I can almost gaurentee that. Devin Gardner will probably leave. So then, you have Jack Kennedy left to QB this team nex year.
The short term here is not good. The long term could be, I don't know, but if Dave Brandon is going to give him 3 years like he did RR they will be doing this again from a worse position. This is a 5-6 year hire. It's a Paul Rhoads hire except I don't think Hoke is as good of a coach. I would actually say Michigan will have less wins than ISU over the next 3 years. Beyond that, anything could happen but it's going to be a rough three years for Michigan Football. Thank God for ISU football.

Most of what you say I agree with. The only thing I disagree with is his ability to coach. Turning around 2 bad programs isn't easy. Ball State is back to being bad. SDSU wasn't any good until he got there. Since you bring up Denard leaving, where do you, or anyone else, think he will go? He will be a great pickup for any team.

Yeah but 6 years is a long time at that level. It was his first job so maybe it took awhile to get the hang but CPR turned us into a 7 win team in a year. It took him 5 just to win 7. You can't tell me his talent disparity was more than ours was. That's all I'm saying and like I said I hope I am way wrong.
Denard could go to pretty much any school he wants. Maybe Auburn (OMGPLSNO). Boise? TCU? WVU? He has so many options. The thing is, he doesn't fit a Hoke system at receiever either. He's an in space type of guy and those principle probably won't be used at the position. It's sad really. The most electric player since Charles Woodson will leave after a year. I am still holding out hope that Hoke brings in a flexible OC though, so there's that.

Brady Hoke is a tremendous hire - he will have a winning season this fall, not 5-6. And, it will only get better from there. This "rebuilding project" will be a lot easier for Hoke than Ball State and SDSU were.
He's also bringing a tremendous S/C coach, Aaron Wellman, with him. The days of Michigan getting pushed around for the past three years are over.

I hope you're right but I don't know how you win 7 games w/o a QB.

“He is the pulse of our team,” Hoke said. “He’s my right hand. I talk to him more than anybody else. We have a relationship built on trust and character. If I couldn’t have brought him here (from Ball State) I wouldn’t have taken this job. And you can put that in print.”

Anywho, that qoute speaks nothing to his capabilities. Just his relationship.
