I don't think Colvin, Dendy, and Hambone had the chance to come back. I think they wanted to but the coaches said no thanks.
I'll bet he would have taken Hamilton. My recollection was that he had already transferred to LSU by the time McD left and Hoiberg was hired. If he had held off, I think he would have had the option to come back, didn't seem to be a headcase like Dendy and Colvin. He could have been, I just never got that impression.
Fred publicly stated that Dendy made a mistake leaving ISU. He wanted Dendy to stay. Colvin definitely was not welcomed back and Hamilton may not have been as well.
That's good that Fred publicly said that but I don't believe that was the case at all. He knew about Dendy and some of the stunts he pulled here. I've heard from people that know Otz and it didn't sound like Fred really wanted him back.
The staff knew that he was not going to be allowed to return from a much higher power.
Yet another example of what a truly worthless coach chewey was. You know, I could handle most of the losing the same way everytime (see Iowa State football under mccarney). But how insecure, and weak willed are you as a grown man, that you would pander that hard to a 19 year old who had spit in your face in front of your bosses.
Love the quote below. Glad to hear he is the man and his coaches are not screwing things up too badly.
Colvin is pleased with how the season is progressing. “The team is doing pretty good right now we are 21-2 and 6-0 in the conference. Nationally, we are ranked 17th right now, and #2 in our conference. My individual play has been pretty good so far. I'm just holding down the team and running the show. The coaches are doing good and really well, so i have no complaints," said Colvin
