Report: Tubby Smith to Arkansas
According to ESPN 1500 in Minneapolis, Arkansas is very close to hiring Tubby Smith away from Minnesota.
I'm not sure why Tubby's name keeps coming up for good jobs considering he hasn't really done anything at Minnesota...
I'd rather see Mike Anderson leave Missouri.

Re: Report: Tubby Smith to Arkansas
There's a reason that his name keeps popping up. He keeps putting it out there. That's how a lot of these things work. Guys who are looking to move often times finds ways to GET their names out in the conversation through the media.

But unless this ESPN report is completely off base, it appears that Tubby will be HIRED by Arkansas...not just floating his name out there for job security/raises like a lot of other coaches do.

Holy crap - Minnesota's entire AD is heading straight for the dumpster. What the hell happened?

Re: Report: Tubby Smith to Arkansas
Tubby Smith is a Southern guy. He's been wanting out, it's just that Minnesota wanted him badly when he was available.
I say Minnesota would be fine with letting him go. He has cost the Gophers a ton of money, and his teams have underperformed. He's a decent coach, but I think his best days are behind him.
If he leaves, I think MN should make a run at Ben Jacobson.

I understand why we all would like for that to happen ( ), and we all know Minnesota is always willing to dive head-first into a program-crippling mistake (see Tim Brewster), but, considering what's happened with McDermott and Keno Davis, is Jacobson willing to make that mistake, or does he realize what he has in Cedar Falls?
