Dude was the MWC's 3rd leading scorer last year. He's got a high GPA and is a high character kid. Not surprising. A who's who list of schools will be after Clyburn IMO.

No I understand, I just couldn't imagine getting 20 calls from BCS schools, the day I;m released. I would be thrilled if we could get him. What would you say the chances are Chris? too early to tell?

Too early to tell but Iowa State SHOULD be in the mix, should Fred decide to recruit him.

i don't know this guys background, why should we be in the mix? do we try to recruit him in the past or is there some history between him and ISU?

Remember when we were recruiting him and DeMarcus Phillips from MCC? And we decided that we wanted DeMarcus and that we didn't have room for Clyburn?

So we want to take two kids in the same "class" who will sit a year and play a year? I realize he's good but throw me in the pile that would like to bank this one for next year rather than get him. And I hate banking scholarships.

As of right now we have 4 open scholarships for 2012. I would be alright if we only picked up 3 HS kids. Remember that Hoiberg hasn't even been recruiting that class for a year yet so the likelyhood that he would be in on some stud HS 2012 talent is slim. Now by 2013 and 2014, he will have had time to build relationships with these kids.

I'm with you if he has to sit and then play only one year.

If you can pick up a kid who will, at a minimum, be in your rotation - even if only for one year - then far more often than not you should do so, IMO. Clyburn would seem to have the ability to be more than just in our rotation, too.

But I doubt we get him.

Obviously, I would love to have Clyburn! I looked him up on Twitter to try and get a sense of which way he might be leaning. Unfortunately, I do not speak his language: Will Clyburn (will_the_thri11) on Twitter

No inside info here, but my guess is he ends up at Mich State. He is from Detroit, Tom Izzo needs some talent to stay at the top end of the big 10. He will have a relative come down with some sickness that results as a "family hardship" and he will be able to play next year.

The NCAA needs Mich State to be competitive. Clyburn will help.
