My thoughts exactly. I think at Auburn the term "god" refers to the whole booster cash support system. After winning the NC, Gene "thanked God" but was looking into the stands. There was an audible response from the crowd.

I can understand having a guy named Jesus as a booster, especially in the south. But naming your kid God? Wow. Those are some messed up parents. Although, it does explain him being an Auburn booster...

I'm guessing Gene can't believe how cheap it was to get this guy. The boosters are probably thanking God for not having to pay as much for this one.

Or maybe this kid equates God with money.
