I hope people are supporting the NCC or CGC with the same vitriol that they feel they need to bring to this.
Here's an idea - if you feel the need to keep the hate flowing rather than just let this go, why don't you donate the price of the book (or hell, even just $5.19) to the NCC or CGC and put your money where your mouth is?
There's no chance I'd read his book, as I have enough fiction titles on the pile in front of it to last quite a while. The real question is: If you were one of the folks who bought the GC commemerative coins, what did you do with them following his departure?
The title of the book is so ridiculous, "What it takes to be the best" please, I guess that what it takes to be the best is one of the best offensive coaches in Gus Malzahn and the best player in college football in Newton, because it certainly didn't take Chizik, he was a part of the equation that wasn't necessary.
What's laughable is that Chiz actually expects people to believe that a 5-19 coach working on a 10 game losing streak would even be interviewed for the Auburn job (unless there was some pre-arranged hanky panky). If God was involved as Gene says, he was more likely looking out for ISU in helping us get rid of this guy.
If I would have the chance to get my hands on the book without paying for it, I would read it, but only anything regarding to Iowa State. Then again, there will likely not be anything in there that I don't already know. If there is something new, he will have spun it to make it look Iowa State bad and that everything was our fault, so there will not be anything new.
I won't read it, but it has more to do with me not being interested in these kinds of books in the first place than a distaste for Chizik. Let it go. The dude wasn't and isn't that good of a coach, and he took double the money to move home. We're better off without him too.
In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection.
