    Wow, this is pretty impressive - 13 players left in running for final roster of 12 - one more player to be cut on Wednesday.

    Named as a finalist for the USA U19 World Championship squad were: Keith Appling (Michigan State/Detroit, Mich.); James Bell (Villanova/Orlando, Fla.); Anthony Brown (Stanford/Huntington Beach, Calif.); .); Jahii Carson (Mesa High School/*Arizona State/Phoenix, Ariz.);Tim Hardaway, Jr. (Michigan/Miami, Fla.); Joe Jackson (Memphis/Memphis, Tenn.); Jeremy Lamb (Connecticut/Norcross, Ga.); Meyers Leonard (Illinois/Robinson, Ill.); Khyle Marshall (Butler/Davie, Fla.); Javon McCrea (Buffalo/Newark, N.Y.); Doug McDermott (Creighton/ Ames, Iowa); Tony Mitchell (North Texas/Dallas, Texas); and Patric Young (Florida/Jacksonville, Fla.).

    Source of mine told me Doug and Basabe were matched up against one another in the tryouts and mcd was clearly better

    Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

    ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

    Good for Doug! People need to stop being so bitter. McD is gone (yes I'm just as glad as everyone else), but **** talking on Doug for no reason besides he's McD's son is just stupid.

    Dougie is a very solid player.

    He is perfect for "all star" teams like this because he has a high basketball IQ, and he adds chemistry, and will do all of the little things that make good teams great.

    Congrats to him. He is a great player at the MVC level, but he would have been a very good player at the top 6 level. Kind of like Matt Gatens would have been if he would have been on team's with more talent.

    Or, kind of like Fred was his first two years at Iowa State when Thigpen and Bayless were the leading scorers.

    the funniest thing is GMac wanted to redshirt doug. his own son is 9 months away from being the first freshman in 40 years to be first-team all-valley as a frosh, and the headcoach wanted to redshirt him! that's some serious improvement! :)
