College World Series: Rosenblatt vs. TD Ameritrade

I went to the College World Series last night. I'm somewhat from that area so I was curious to see the atmosphere at TD Ameritrade Park compared to the old Rosenblatt Stadium.

Have any of you gone this year? If so, what did you think?

TD Ameritrade was beautiful. It looked like an MLB park. Having said that, I think that it lacked Rosenblatt's awesome atmosphere, in and around the park. In addition to that, I probably went on the worst weather night of the series.

I loved that neighborhood that Rosenblatt was in but know that the park itself sucked. Just curious as to other people's thoughts on this.

    I think it's quite a bit better.

You can actually be comfortable in your seat. A lot easier to park, as long as you know your way around the area.

The atmosphere is different, probably somewhat due to people taking in the new area and stadium. It should continue to get better over time.

edit: The only people I've heard complain are a couple friends who were ushers at Rosenblatt.

I think everything about TD Ameritrade Park is better, including the atmosphere around the stadium. It feels like a scaled down MLB stadium, and is very well designed in my opinion.

I heard that restaurants in the Old Market are losing a lot of business because all of their parking is being used by people who are going over to the stadium area instead of by people eating in their restaurants.

I love the stadium. The tailgating and everything else is taking some getting used to. It is not worse, it is just different. Instead of going to some old dive bar on south 13th, the bars are brand new nice places. The Old Mattress Factory area is a lot of fun.

The new park is perfect. Rosenblatt had great history but was a polished turd. That atmosphere will improve with time. The only thing I miss about "The Blatt" is ******* in a troff, oh wait nevermind.

I think it's safe to say they are benefiting from the move to downtown. I can't imagine how much profit they are making in that tent.

I think that the CWS could really explode in the next couple years... Locals know it is a great time, and most people from the south know this as well. This new location has "BIG TIME" written all over it.

I had the opportunity to hit up some hospitality tents on Tue, and It was way better at TD then being in someones yard. I heard and saw that Zestos bought some land at 12th and Mike Fahey.(Right across the street from TD outfield) They are going to build there and put Wrigley style seats on there roof.

I do agree that things are different this year.. People just taking in the new scene. But im excited for the future of the CWS..

Also TD has a awsome club level!!!!

Next year the last couple days of the CWS could be a bigger party with the U.S. Olympic Swim Trials going on just across the street from TD Ameritrade in the Qwest Center.

It's a great thing for Omaha that they are keeping the CWS. I'm in NC for work right now, and try are crazy for college baseball in this part of the country. It's on in every bar and restaurant, and everyone is paying attention. From TV, the facility looks fantastic.

I would imagine that development will grow around the stadium over the next few years, and if the atmosphere isn't there now, it will be in 5 years.

Im mixed on this... because the thing I liked about the blatt was we would just go down and pay to park and tailgate for the whole day. We wouldnt even think about going into a game.. This location almost seems like they either want you to go into the game or spend money at the tents.. I havent been to any of the lots to see if the Tailgating is still as good as it was at the blatt...

Also ive been down there twice and taken shuttles both times... I LOVE THAT!!

I was in the lots for quite a while on Saturday. I had a great time there. You have to keep in mind that I had more than enough cans of silly before I got to the lots, but I am sure it would have been fun either way.
