Basically, Chip Kelly authorized a $25K payment to a guy seemingly to get him to steer guys to Oregon and help with the process of recruiting and enrollment. IMO, Will Lyles, the guy, had some good intentions of helping some kids in the beginning. It seems a lot of guys Lyles was involved with didn't even end up at Oregon. Chip Kelly just wanted a guy steering kids to Oregon. He's gonna be done too.

Now I'm wondering if Oregon also gets penalized, not just Chip Kelly... Either way, Kelly should be gone if this ends up being true.

This isn't new news. I recall reading this awhile ago....recently Oregon had to release financial records that showed these payments. Now it's a story gaining traction....we'll see how this plays out.

Could it be possible that in the inaugural year of the Pac 12, the championship game could be played by two teams (USC v. Oregon) that may not be permitted to play in a bowl game??

All the Lyles interview is new. All that was released earlier was the payment and shaky evidence of recruiting evaluations actually given in exchange, not to mention I don't remember there being information saying Chip Kelly authorized all of that. This is much more damning.

Isn't USC a postseason ban? If it is that would extend to a championship game.

I have expected something to come out about Oregon for the past year or so. A team that is in the bottom of a BCS conference and is not a traditional power doesn't get that good that fast or that many big time recruits without doing something shady.

Well, you may if you have Phil Knight throwing up some of the best facilities in the nation and market yourselves incredibly well to high school kids.
