Woodbury plays at SC East. Why is the this surprising that McDermott hired his coach?

Because they hired the SC East coach, CU is unable to recruit any SC East player for at least two years. This is an NCAA rule.

Woodbury will not be going to Creighton.

McDermott and Vanderloo have been close for years. The hire came as absolutely no surprise. Crawford didn't jump a sinking ship. He left for a better job (with actual coaching duties).

I had the chance to talk to Crawford several times while he was at Ames and had a few beers one night with him and Robinson. He's a stand up guy and I'm glad to see him move up the coaching ladder.
