That's great, but after a few years of having the SEC run the train on you, it's going to be about wins and losses again.

Re: Missouri and Clemson now going to the SEC
There may not be a Big East when this is all over.
If this is true, The Big Ten's expansion candidate pool just got smaller. They had shown interest in Mizzou, Clemson and A&M.

Re: ESPN reporting aTm will go, and 3 other teams MAY
Posted this on the other thread, but I'll give sources...
During the last 2 months, the Big Ten has been rumored to be in talks with 4 teams, although nobody knows how accurate those rumors are.
Duke, UNC, Maryland, GA Tech.
1.For Big East, where is all this leading? - The Boston Globe
Date: May 26
There may be more trouble coming for the Big East if the Big Ten decides to move forward again in a few years; already there are rumblings that it might go to 14 teams, with an eye on There may be more trouble coming for the Big East if the Big Ten decides to move forward again in a few years; already there are rumblings that it might go to 14 teams, with an eye on Georgia Tech and Maryland, which would significantly increase its television footprint., which would significantly increase its television footprint.
2. The Duke UNC rumor was on multiple rivals sites, based on a twitter feed from Jon Wilner, the Pac 12 guru. Big Ten looking at UNC/Duke ??
Obviously they want ND, so if ND bites, one of those would be gone.
However, Chip Brown has reported that ND & Texas have thought about making a conference, so I wonder if Texas would prefer that over the Pac 12.
In any case, if this all goes down, I bet the Big 10 tries to get to 16, which leaves the ACC with either 6 or 7 depending on ND. Who knows how a Texas/ND conference would affect the leftovers and who would join the ACC or a Texas/ND conference and how many teams they might want.
If this were all to go down, you'd have to think Silve, Delany, and Scott have been in talks about how they can force teams into 16 team conf. and then leaving the NCAA. They'd also have to be okay with losing their tax-exempt status b/c they see more money coming in.

Re: ESPN reporting aTm will go, and 3 other teams MAY
I have a hard time believing anything is final or concrete until the aTm regents meet on Monday. aTm should be the 1st shoe to fall, and other teams moving conferences seem somewhat contingent on them starting the process. I'm not saying the desire and discussions aren't there, just that it can't be "final" or a "done deal" until aTm regents meet... It would seem.
IMO, if the cards begin to fall, the Big XII (as long as UT and OU stay) needs to grab some strong independents like Notre Dame or BYU, or poach the Big East (seriously, with UT and OU, we are a stronger conf $-wise.) or the ACC if the SEC adds a team from them.

Re: ESPN reporting aTm will go, and 3 other teams MAY
I'd rather try to replace Clemson and FSU in the ACC than go to the Big East. ISU and KU? They'd probably want other Big East schools over us however.

And I've never heard A&M or Clemson mentioned as going to the B10.

Re: Missouri and Clemson now going to the SEC
Geez, and we though A&M was in for a rough schedule, Mizzou will be in for an even worse time in that conference

Re: ESPN reporting aTm will go, and 3 other teams MAY
I wonder if those forces ND to make a move, and they head west?
If DeLoss wants to "finish" it, he should be making overtures at the Big East and ACC, and bring them this way. Texas and OU are more powerful than any ACC school.

Re: ESPN reporting aTm will go, and 3 other teams MAY
Does the NCAA have a say in any of this? I mean, these rumors keep getting more and more outrageous. Now the big east is doomed too huh? The big 10 is looking to add 4 ACC teams? And Texas is going independent and the big 12 south is headed to the pac 10- no wait, pac 12.
Who says everything will be stable if the big 10 ends up with 16 teams and the SEC has half the country in their conference?
