Re: No way for Syracuse to vacate win

Wow, 2 minutes left in the game? Sorry, calls get blown all the time. A UConn touchdown comes to mind. The way the stink was over this, I thought it was literally a game tying touchdown at the end of regulation, with no time on the clock. No way you vacate that win. Blown calls happen all the time during a game.

The only way, is if there would have been no time on the clock.

Honestly... how could a replay official watch video of that not see that the ball clearly hooked to the left of the upright before getting past it? If the ball had already gone past the upright when the ball moved to the left of the post the solid yellow would have always been visible. It wasn't.

The Big East claims that the reply officials only looked at video from the side angle.

The better question is, How in the Hell does the official under the post miss the call in the first place.? It isn't like it passes over the top of the goal post, it is clearly to the left (or right from the officials view). Horrible call, he should lose his job, but I am sure he will be on the field next week.

Seems like a perfectly reasonable way to determine if a kick went through the uprights or not...

The NCAA needs to fire these refs. It's obvious the fix is on as the line was 2.5. How do you miss that on a replay?

With that said, you can't go back and give Toledo the win despite the fact that they got hosed terribly

Seriously.... at least in the SEC when officials are totally screwing a team over they do it by making calls that are judgement calls... not on calls that are so black and white.

Do we get the TD against Florida State? What does the officials being wrong at the end of the game have to do with that game going down in the history books as a W or L?

Huh? If the extra point had been called correctly, The Toledo FG would have won the game in regulation.

Problem is that this was reviewed and it's obvious. It's not something where you aren't sure if he got over the line. The kick was no good.

A replay official is just another official. Doesn't matter if the guys on the field get it wrong or the reviewer gets it wrong.

Except the replay official has several minutes and multiple angles to hopefully get the call right.

Yeah no excuses for the guy. Fine him, fire him, or whatever. I'd be complaining like crazy if this were us on the losing end. But at the end of the day the guy messes up it's human error by an official. Every fanbase has a few games they can point to a big mistake by the officials and say you stole one from us. You give this win back and then you need to start reviewing the reviews after every game. Players/fans would need to leave saying "we probably won, but let's wait for the official review".

Re: No way for Syracuse to vacate win

Not sure what strategy would have changed in the last two minutes. It's not like Syracuse would have on-side-kicked or tried "harder" to stop Toledo on the game-tying (should have been game winning) field goal if that was correctly called no-good. Seems straight forward in this case, take the point off and Toledo wins. What a complete screw-job. NCAA football is completely corrupt.
