SEC to push to end 2 team BCS limit
Say hello to watching 2 or 3 loss SEC and Big 10 teams play in the BCS every year because of their massive fanbases' ability to generate money for the bowl games that teams like Stanford and UConn can not. Slive: BCS 2-team conference limit reconsidered - College Football - Rivals.com -

I think they need to end automatic qualifiers and pick the best team period.

Re: SEC to push to end 2 team BCS limit
Here are what the 10 BCS spots will look like most years.
1. SEC
2. SEC
3. SEC
4. Big10
5. Big10
6. Big12
7. Big10 or Big 12
8. ACC
9. Pac12
10.Big Country
Fanbases from the other conferences just can't compete with the sheer number of fans that the SEC and Big10 bring to the table.

Re: SEC to push to end 2 team BCS limit
Maybe they shouldve taken the 2 team limit into account before expanding. Split and go back to conferences of 8-10 if you want to maximize BCS opportunities.

Re: SEC to push to end 2 team BCS limit
I think the reasons for SEC expansion are multi-faceted
1. Rip up existing TV contracts to renegotiate for more $$$
2. Get more teams into BCS for more $$$
3. Get into Texas for recruiting
4. Destroy other conferences (Big East and they assume one day Big 12) to help consolidate number of major conferences to drive up TV rights for more $$$

If they do expand beyond the 2 team limit, outside of the 1 auto-qualifier it should have to go purely by BCS ratings and not be up to the bowls which ones get selected, just to prevent crap like this.
The big 10 this year shouldnt have more than 1 team in the BCS this year, but i'm sure they'll push for it, just like they pushed for a Michigan-OSU rematch a couple years ago.

Largely agree with this. Have your 6 BCS (or 5 depending on Big East) auto-qualifiers and give the remaining spots to the top rated BCS teams.
Also, bring in the Cotton Bowl and expand the BCS to 12.

If you have the power of the SEC, you don't expand with the assumption that you're going to play within the rules, but you expand with the assumption that you get to change the rules as you go.
As long as their #3 team is ranked in the top 14 of the BCS, they will receive an at-large bid every year. They'll probably want to change the rule about being ranked in the top 14 to receive an at-large bid to the top 18 or 20 though.

These guys want to play by their own set of rules and if the NCAA rules, BCS rules, or anything else gets in their way they just make up new rules as they go along.
BREAKING NEWS:
This just in.... the new interim commissioner of the Big XII conference in an effort to be more competitive against the SEC who has won the last 5 National Championships has petitioned the NCAA to allow only Big XII schools to up their limit of scholarships per year from 85 to 170. Included in the petition to the NCAA was the request that Big XII schools also be allowed to offer recruits signing bonuses not to exceed $20,000 and weekly scholarship bonuses of no more then $1,000 as well as forcing all SEC schools to be required to play a minimum of 2 non conference games per year in the northern states in late November or December. The most controversial request of all was the request that all SEC schools would have any loss count as 2 losses against them to help ensure that a 1 loss SEC team can't buy their way into the National Championship game ever again. At this time the NCAA has had no comment as they are too busy investigating multiple SEC schools for major NCAA violations. Updates to follow.

Unreal. Some of these conferences are just deadset on ruining college football, aren't they?
If you want a better chance of getting a BCS bid, then don't expand your conference. Pretty simple.

Re: SEC to push to end 2 team BCS limit
The big 10 should never have more than 1 team....look at the all time record of bcs teams....

Re: SEC to push to end 2 team BCS limit
I don't like this at all. I do think that the Big East doesn't compete well with the other 5 conferences anymore (particularly if WVU ends up being the SEC's 14th team), but I don't like the idea of letting more than 2 teams from any one conference in.
It shouldn't be solely based on money. If that's the tie-breaker between two pretty even teams, that's one thing. But that's not what we're talking about here.
