We had a card section in the middle 60's that put on shows during halftime. It was a way for a student to sit on the 50 yard line. It was discontinued when the students started sailing the reusable cards creating a vicious square Frisbee. I'd guess alcohol had something to do with it.
That is pretty awesome! Props to the U of I!
I hate to admit it, but it looked pretty good. A good friend of mine, who happens to be a Hawkeye fan, gave me a ticket to the game. First time in Kinnick. Still like JTS much better, but the card trick looked good.

We cant even do Cardinal or Golden rules, jfc...but how low did the jets fly? :jimlad:
A major marketing ploy was the ANF of the 1980's, where Hayden exploited the farm crisis and ISU dropped the ball.
The U of I doesn't do a damn thing for farmers, the 2011 campaign is a farce, Farm land is upwards of $10,000/acre, and the 30% of the U of Iowa student population is from Chicagoland 'burbs, who sure as sh#t don't give a flying f- about farmers.
yet the U of Iowa knows how to make a buck by ripping off ideas, and attracting some national attention attaching themselves to a cause they have nothing to do with (1980's) and a 'crisis' that doesn't exist (2011)
Something like 18,400 instate for ISU and like 17,500 for Iowa? Wow. Huge difference.
Maybe I'm making that up, but who cares. Yeah Iowa isn't an Ag school. But there are still plenty of people there that grew up on farms and have farming families. Not every farmer's kid ends up a farmer or an engineer.
People need to just get over this. Ok, so Iowa is making money off it. Big deal. They make money off a lot of things.
