Marquel White Arkansas cheap shot

Don't know if anyone saw this, but Marquel Wade out of Arkansas leveled the Vandy kick/punt returner after he called for a fair catch. Ultimately, he was ejected from the game, but continued to taunt Vandy fans on his way of the field.

Mistake or low-class?

What, if anything, will his punishment be from the SEC?

Not buying that it's a mistake. He clearly waived for a fair catch and he went helmet to helmet. That's low. Expect that man to be suspended for some time... hopefully kicked off the team. There's no excuse for play like that and the reaction he gave afterwards.

I wouldn't say he clearly called for a fair catch. You can see his right arm waive slightly, but that is in no way "clearly" calling fair catch.

It was a cheap shot, but it looked to me his hand was up to block the sun. We wasn't waiving it like most obvious fair catches.

Yeah, I don't see anything in that clip that I would say is a fair catch signal.

Doesn't matter though. Whether you call for a fair catch or not, returner still can't be touched prior to fielding the punt.

Fair catch or not, either way the returner needs room to make the catch.

Yeah that was cheap. Fair catch wasn't really called (not that it matters).

Coaching staff escorted him to the lockerroom by his shoulderpad collar. He'll sit some games rightfully.

I agree with this, but I think it is irrelevant, as the defender gave the returner no opportunity to catch the ball, whether he had called for the fair catch or not, before launching for the cheap shot.
