re: JoePa Fired/What is happening at Penn State?!?!
Aside from what the official story is, for Joe Pa to say that he didn't hear/know what was going on inside the football department with this guy is not believable. Too small of a circle for way too many years. It's a head coach looking the other way with a big tme problem with his long time buddy.
It's too, bad. Joe Pa has (had IMO) a great reputation and this one will dog him long after he is gone.

No mention of that in his statement either. I think Paterno has more to say and is being told to keep his mouth shut for the time being. Maybe I'm just being naive. I'm not sure if it's even Paterno's lawyer that's running this show, which is a problem.
His statement was released by his son, who is A lawyer. Maybe this one requires someone other than your own kid, Joe.

Or maybe Joe did know what was going on and that is why he didn't just call the cops.

Honestly, if I were in another country (heck, probably even when I was at ISU) if I were to witness something like that involving Jamie Pollard or the like, I'd like to think I'd immediately jump in and kick ***. Realistically though, I think I would probably call my husband or parents to a. calm myself down and b. recognize that I do need to report this immediately. Which is what the GA did.

Maybe you would still go in and kick *****. I know for me personally, it would probably be so completely shocking that I would not react correctly (going into the shower and asking what the **** is going on here? and then calling the cops). I would likely call someone else first and then report it.
Regardless, it sounds like the GA and the janitor are the only people who did the right thing in this whole situation. And besides the victims, they had the least amount of power and sway as far as getting it moved up the chain and having action taken on it.

I'd truly like to think that that's how I would react. But a campus late at night as a small, unarmed female? Against a larger male who obviously has something to keep quiet? I just can't be sure that I would do in the moment. But I do know that it would be reported. And I would follow up on it.

I think you're right. It was more in response to Cowgirl asserting that calling your Dad is a first move that a lot of people would make. At best that seems odd.

I don't think it would be crazy to think that some people might call someone whose advice and support they trust before making that kind of move. Leveling that kind of accusation at someone when it will essentially be their word against yours (since I doubt the GA knew the kid's name or how to track him down) is bound to have some backlash.
