There's no way Meyer or any other big name coach takes the Penn St job. This job is going to be untouchable for the next two-three years at least. This is the worst scandal in college football history and will not go away quickly. Their recruiting is going to be negatively effected by the fall out from this for years to come.

Best case scenario for them, they find someone with connections to PSU but not this staff to come in and hold down the fort for a couple of years as the effects of this scandal lessen and then make a run at a big name coach in a few years.

Re: Pennsylvania Paper Call's for 2011 to Be JoePa's Last Season

My thinking is that Joe Pa should've stepped down yesterday with the others. He now has to live with the fact that his legacy will be tarnished forever.

Sure, he reported the incident to his boss, but as a father of three boys and 17 grandchildren, I can't believe he did not follow up on the matter on a day to day basis given how disgusting the allegations are.

His lack of following up, along with the cover up by the athletic department led to how many more boys being molested?? Downright disgusting...why? To protect the football program and recruiting. What a load of bull ****! I would be ashamed to have him as my coach right now.

Just makes me sick to the stomach...

Really puts selling jerseys at OSU, inappropriate phone calls to recruits, and other NCAA issues in perspective...

It'll be hard for Penn State to clean up because not only Joe Pa and AD are involved but the administration is also involved. Even probably the legal counsel ?

Joe Paterno has been there forever someone connected to PSU = connected to Joe Paterno.

If they clean house as it sounds like, they will be better off hiring someone with NO connections to Penn St or Joe Pa. Since this is beyond the scope of the NCAA it won't really affect them with sanctions etc. Again, as long as they clean house, whoever the next coach is can point to that fact to squash a majority of negative recruiting tactics IMO.

Paterno did nothing to protect the child; he only protected PSU; that is why he needs to go now. It is unforgivable to ignore the offense against the child in question. Paterno should be fired today along with all others that looked away for the last ten yrs.

There should be a clean up not only in the athletics dept but in the university system too. That what makes this job unattractive right now.

The more I hear about this, the sicker I get.

I'm sure it has been said before, but this isn't about your responsibility as a janitor, a grad assistant or even a head coach. It is about your responsibility as a human being to stop things like this, whatever the repercussions to yourself, a friend or employer. I cannot imagine a situation where I would let this slide for more than a day without contacting the police. Just disgusting behavior by all involved, and the broken lives of every child abused after the initial date are on the heads of all who knew.

They have to end this now..no way he should coach another game. Forget about the end of the year, its wrong to let him go out there for another game knowing this.

Sadly, I think you'll hear the students cheering Joe's name this Saturday. Just turn the TV on and you'll hear the applause.

I hope I'm wrong but I think that will happen.

Penn State students rally around Jo Pa, chanting his name as he leaves his house to head to practice....

disgusting. I would hope our students would never be so blinded by university passion to condone one who allowed such horrific child abuse to continue
