    Section 6311 - Title 23 - DOMESTIC RELATIONS

We're dealing with an elderly man who is OLD SCHOOL. He did what was required by law at an institution by Pennsylvania State Law. The same law that thousands of teachers and other workers follow every year in that state. So if you're going to crucify him, then you better crucify thousands of people every year who ONLY follow this law.

How about we start? Everytime we can see a report filed in Pennsylvania Government for this, let's give **** to the person who files who did that instead of going directly to the police. Because you know what? It's the same ******* thing. The only difference is that one person has notoriety and the other doesn't. So let's stay consistent and give **** to thousands of people every year for following protocol okay?
    Address my point, fanboy.

I said that Joe Paterno would NOT have had to fear for his job if he'd called the police when he saw that nothing was being done by the Penn State athletic department. Point me to one place in the law or in the Penn State athletic department policies where it says that "Snitches Get Stitches". Because that's the exact policy that you're advocating.

I find it funny that you and some others here are going to great lengths to heap praise on a man who turned his back on victims of child molestation. All because he had some talent at coaching a game. A ******* game. Pathetic.

I don't know about penn law, but in Iowa if you oversee anybody under 18(some players are 17 and camps always have youth in them) you are required to be a mandatory reporter. This says that if you have any knowledge of anything like this, any inkling at all, you must contact authorities.

If penn has the same laws as Iowa, he did not do what was required of him. With his passing, I am done on this subject for awhile as to what I would do for anyone.

I believe that under PA law, Paterno didn't qualify as a mandatory reporter. I think they changed the law last fall when the fecal matter hit the fan, but Joe Paterno was never charged with a crime for his part in the matter.

Of course, there's a big difference between what's illegal and what's wrong. Especially when your whole life is spent emphasizing "doing things the right way".....or at least paying lip service to that saying.

I don't think there is any question that Paterno didn't do the absolute bare minimum of what he might have been legally required to do. The thing is that this is a guy who has built up a huge cult of personality about being someone who "does the right thing" and who molds impressionable teenagers into men. Then when faced with a chance to do the right thing on something as horrific as child rape he kept silent. He failed both the children and his legacy.
