Big10 tough in BBall???
I'm not seeing it. I see three teams that can compete nationally. A bunch of mediocre teams competing for the middle. It's going to be another year where the conference is GONE after the 2nd round of the bid dance.

Re: Big10 tough in BBall???
they may very well bust in the tourney, but check out all their preseason wins. that's why they're the "best" conference this year - they proved it preseason by beating other good teams.
clearly several are struggling now.

Big 10 is very good at the top.
Is that because the bottom 5 are horrible? The only way to know is by looking for out of conference wins.

Re: Big10 tough in BBall???
I agree with you except that I would say four teams: Both Michigan schools, OSU, and Indiana. The rest are average college b-ball teams. No different, nor better than our own B-12.
Sadly, the hype machine out of the B-10 office has many media members convinced that they are the superior league this year. I just don't see it.
I would argue that OSU and Michigan State might go deep into the tourney. Officials call the tourney much different and will let these two teams play a physical defense that gets called in the regular season.

Re: Big10 tough in BBall???
At the beginning of conference play, I would have agreed that they were the second best conference (behind the Big East), but lately they are falling apart. Illinois and Minnesota aren't doing the conference any favors this late down the stretch - the Big 10 really needs them to turn it on if they want to get 7 or 8 teams in the NCAA tourny.

Re: Big10 tough in BBall???
The problem, is that all the other BCS conferences aren't as strong this year either. I really don't think Illinois or Minny are deserving of bids on almost any given year, but every conference seems to be down this year, and I think that's the only reason they are even getting consideration. Also, don't forget about Wisconsin, they are still a very good team.

The Big East is not the best conference this year. They are 3rd at best behind the Big Ten and Big 12. Having teams like Minnesota and Illinois might not be the worst thing for the Big Ten. Both of those teams would probably be first round losses for the conference anyway.

"He is the toughest I have ever been around, physically and mentally," Burnham said. "You can beat him down but you’re not going to beat him out. He’s got the mindset of, ‘If you’re going to get me out of this game, you’re going to have to kill me.’ That’s about where he is."

Re: Big10 tough in BBall???
The more Big 10 teams make the tournament the better. Just like in bowl season, they will tank. I'd love 8 teams make it and only 1 or 2 make it to the Sweet 16. Happens regularly lately. You have to love the media markets they have.
