With a win Wednesday... are we in?

If we beat Tech this week, and lose the rest of our games, we'll have to get a win vs. K-State in the opening game in the Big12 Tourney. Just that one win and we might be sitting at home.

If it did come down to that, better to hope for a win @ K-State vs. a win over K-State in the tournament. Road win > neutral court win.

And I don't want anything hinging on what happens in the Big 12 tournament. Sometimes that helps bubble teams, sometimes it doesn't, but at that point, impact at that stage is all over the map.

You don't want to have to rely on a tournament win to help your resume. Usually if that's the case, you're on the wrong side of the bubble. We need to beat Tech and get 1 more regular season win to feel really comfortable on selection Sunday.
I put the percentages like this for the last 4 games:

I predicted 20-11 regular season at the very start so I'll stay at that...also predicted to beat Texas in the first round but lose to Baylor...Baylor won't happen, thanks to Scott Drew not being able to coach

We should beat Tech. That puts us at a minimum 10-8 in the Big 12 conference. The committee will have to look long and hard at that, even though our nonconference record wasn't that amazing. It's a good thing we beat KU, otherwise I'd be pretty worried. If we finish 10-8, I still think we're on the right side of the bubble.

I also think we'll go 2-2 over the next four games. Tech is very likely, then either win @KSU or BU at home. 2-2 will pretty much lock up an NCAA bid with an 11-7 Big 12 record.

b) We had a disappointing non conference season, AND
3) In the past, teams from the so-called BCS conferences with 20 total wins/ 10 conference wins have been left out,

I would not feel at all comfortable with just one more win.

Two regular season wins and this team is a lock. It would be hard to keep a team that won 21 and 11 in one of the top three conferences out.

I am just excited to be thinking about watching Selection Sunday with actual interest as to where my team might end up. It has been a long time..

Actually I think the 18 conference games is why we are most likely in with a 10-8 record.

Look at the PAC 10....they've played 18 conference games for a while and they've never had a team with a 10-8 record NOT make it.

I won't feel great if we don't get more than 10 wins, but I think we'd be fine.

Seems to me that if ISU finishes 4th in the Big 12 it would be the only team in a top conference in that position to not make it. There will be a lot of teams with the same record in the Big 10, SEC etc who would have to be picked above ISU.

2 wins (Tech and either KSU, MU, Baylor)-90%
3 wins or more(Tech, either KSU, MU, Baylor, and 1 win in Big 12 tournament)-100%

My prediction: We beat Tech, fall to KSU and MU, but beat Baylor (the magic will be alive March 3rd). We take 3rd in conference and win our first game in the Big 12 tournament. We get a 8-10 seed in the tournament. Keep riding the wave!

That is also my synopsis. We will be firing on all cylinders against Baylor. We will need the win.
