All sports or just football? I was under the impression that the A10 was playing hardball with them.
Also curious if the MAC will try and get another football program to come up from FCS to even out the divisions once UMass joins.

Re: Temple joining the Big Least
They must have received an influx of cash and support from Bill Cosby.
Seriously, do not burn bridges as the conferences shift. Just ask Misery and their stiffing by KU.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

And I'm sure the MAC will get another school to move up from the CAA in FCS. That conference seems to be coming apart and at least one school will want to make the jump to FBS...New Hampshire, Maine, Delaware, James Madison, Villanova...one of those will eventually move to the MAC to get them back to 14 with the addition of UMASS next year. They might not get one of the school to jump to the MAC for a few years though as it will be tough financially without mega TV dollars coming in with the MAC.

Just a crazy thought for the MAC if they are looking at pulling up an FCS team...NDSU. They've already grabbed an FCS FB championship, have knocked off a couple of BCS teams in FB, and made some noise in the NCAA MBB tourney. Not a great fit geographically for MAC, but geography doesn't seem to mean much these days...

I swear they really believe that their dominance of Div-II and now their FCS championship puts them at the same level as Big Ten or Big 12 team. God help the midwest if they ever actually do jump to FBS, they will be worse than the Hawks.

For most FBS conferences, geography has been thrown out the window because the TV dollars will make up for the added costs in travel (although the extra money can't generate as much interest that geographical rivalries do). But for the MAC, when each team gets around $2 million a year for TV money instead of $20-30 million, it's probably not worth it to add NDSU. Also, its not like all those FCS schools I mentioned would even jump if they had the opportunity. It'd take a huge financial investment to jump to FBS without anywhere immediate return on your investment. The WAC has been pleading Montana to jump for years, but its not worth it to them.

Talk about scrambling for leftovers to make a football conference.

I haven't been drinking any Kool-Aid with NDSU fans, and I don't recall mentioning NDSU being at the same level as Big Ten or Big 12. Given the suggestion the the MAC might pull up an FCS team, I suggested that NDSU might be an FCS team that the MAC could consider pulling up.

I just know enough people from back home that went to NDSU and their skewed view of the Bison's place in college athletics is pretty irritating. Couldn't pass up the opportunity to complain about them. -

I think they'd be a decent pick for the MAC, if you're pulling up schools from the FCS level.
