Love the Southern Miss coach
The head basketball coach at Souther Miss. Gotta love the way he talks.
“Where is there doubt about the NCAA tournament? Is there doubt? They are talking about Mississippi State at No. 71. We are 13th in RPI and 48th in strength of schedule. There is no doubt that we are in this tournament. We always get better off of loses. Things work out for a reason. People who say we are not in the tournament, are idiots. They are idiots. They obviously aren’t going by what the NCAA is going by. The criteria is based off of RPI and strength of schedule. You are not allowed to factor anything else in. So, put that in your pipe and smoke it. See what you come up with. Some guy on TV said “I would really be mad if Southern Miss makes it in and South Florida doesn’t.”
“We beat South Florida! The guy didn’t even know that we played them. That is what we are dealing with—some idiots. This (the tournament) is just like the BCS, it is a machine. There aren’t 12 basketball coaches in that room, it is a computer.” http://blogs.dailymail.com/marshall/...as-and-idiots/ -

Haha pretty good stuff Larry!
Hilton Coliseum was specifically built to hold in sound with a solid concrete structure, steel doors, and a crowd that sits just a few feet from the court. With a fan base that frequently ranks among the nations largest crowds, players from opposing teams, as well as Iowa State, have said that the floor has shaken due to the loudness of the crowd -

Re: Love the Southern Miss coach
Sometimes I wonder how ISU basketball would have fared the last decade or so if Vandevelde wasn't our AD at the time of "the incident" and instead had an AD that had a pair of balls and kept him on.
Wouldn't trade Hoiberg in, because I think ISU's best days are ahead of it with him, but man I miss the Eustachy days.
Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice? Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this. -
Re: Love the Southern Miss coach
Imagine the fan demand at ISU for getting LE back if we were still dealing with McDermott these last 2 years.

Re: Love the Southern Miss coach
What's the best RPI a team has had and not been put in the NCAA tournament?
"He is the toughest I have ever been around, physically and mentally," Burnham said. "You can beat him down but you’re not going to beat him out. He’s got the mindset of, ‘If you’re going to get me out of this game, you’re going to have to kill me.’ That’s about where he is."

Good thing that's not a criterion.

I think Missouri State had an RPI in the 25 to 30 range several years ago and wasn't selected.
I like what Larry E. had to say,it's time more of these coaches speak their mind, don't back down Larry!

I agree. His behavior did merit a punishment such as a suspension, but part of me wonders if there was a way he stayed at ISU would he be the fully clean and sober guy he is today.

I love LE. I wish Hoiberg would be as honest as this and like Orr was.
