Where does ISU rate?

It's interesting to see the percentage of power conference teams that turn a profit. I was under the impression that it was a lot smaller than it actually is.

And the Big 12, Big 10, and SEC are doing very very well, with 80% or higher. The Big East, however, is pretty pathetic.

How is KSU in there?

Net profit is an interesting stat, but I'm not sure what relevance it has. The college arms race is characterized by total AD expenditures, not AD profit.

For example, KSU has more net AD profit than tOSU. Not to be mean, but so what? tOSU spent $113,184,855/yr, while KSU spent $45,479,858/yr. tOSU could cut spending back a little bit and blow KSU's profit out of the water. Comparing net profit seems really only useful for teams that have similar expenditures.

That said, aside from KSU, just by glancing at the list, most of those teams are probably somewhat on the same AD expenditure level.

Yeah, the only thing I can possibly take from this is that KState is drastically under-investing in their programs right now. Looking at the names on that list, there is no reasonable way that KState should be on there.

Comparing net income is largely meaningless apart from consistent accounting standards.

you're correct, it doesn't have much relevance as far as athletic prowess goes. But, it does have some significance when faced with those who would criticize college athletics for needlessly taking taxpayer money. Over 75% of BCS conference schools are turning a profit. That pokes holes in that argument pretty quickly.

Didn't they have to pay their exit fees last year? Also IIRC they are building a new basketball facility (not sure why though because I don't think their fans realize they even have a bball team).

I thought the Hoks were number 1 for net income?
