The people involved who favor a plus one voting system are basically saying "My team or conference SUCKS so we hope we can luck out and get voted in so we only have to win one game".
I can kind of respect wanting requiring all or some of the teams to be conference champs even though I don't agree with it, but a voted plus 1 is just complete cowardice and nonsensical.

Well, whoever gets voted into a plus-one championship game would still have to had won their bowl game, so this isn't entirely true. The issue of who they played in that bowl game, however, certainly is still a huge factor (beating Cincinnati or Connecticut in your bowl game is going to be a whole different experience than beating USC or LSU, for example).
I do agree with you in general ... don't care for the plus-one model, I can see some sense in the idea of requiring a conference title to play for the national title ... but I don't think a plus-one is complete cowardice. Just partial.
