Sigh.....PSU fans....
I saw this is widerightandnattylite and figured I would post the link in case not everyone goes to their website. 70,000 Penn State Fans "Like" This Facebook Post Demanding An Apology From ESPN For "Dragging Joe Pa Through The Mud"
Edit: there is another link within the article which shows some extreme raging by PSU fans. I would post the link but it has bad language in it.

They are clinging to everything they can find. It's been sad for a while.

Read their Audibles message board. Scout.com: Audibles Message Board
I check it every day. It's unbelievable how blind they are.

We'd do the same if it was our school. Grabbing for straws to make us seem better. Fact of life.
My teams: (as of 2/27/13) Cleveland Browns: 5-11 - .313 Cleveland Indians: 68-94 - .421 Cleveland Cavs: 19-38 - .333 Iowa State Cyclones (FB): 6-7 - .462 9/22/18 & 9/7/19 Akron and Iowa State CAN'T WAIT! -

I'm not so sure about that. I love Iowa State but if CPR willingly let Wally the Wizard run train on young boys and covered it up, I'd be outraged and want him gone.

I think he's speaking broader than that. It's natural to give the benefit of the doubt to that which you love. Look at what happens on here when an athlete gets in trouble. Immediately, you see threads pop up where some folks are condemning him/her, but some instantly go into defense mode and make excuses. Albert Gary's crime is a perfect example. Of course it's not on the same level as child abuse, but it's natural that for some folks, their first reaction is to defend. That's not unique to Penn State.

Re: Sigh.....PSU fans....
I was talking to a friend of mine who lives in Pennsylvania and she was ****** because her taxes are going to go up because PSU is a state university and taxpayers are be going to footing the $60 million fine on the university and subsequent individual lawsuits. I don't know how legitimate her statement was however.

I wish i could take that last post back. I just meant penn state fans need to quit acting so butt hurt....I wasn't intentionally drawing any connection to the Jerry Sanduski case.
I felt like an ******* as soon as I hit post

Re: Sigh.....PSU fans....
It's pretty sad when you wrap so much of your identity in something as trivial as a college football team. JoePa's identity was being a head football coach at Penn St even more than being a father, husband, grandfather. He wrapped his entire existence in being a coach, that's why he coached until he was 85 and that's why lasted only few months after being canned. That's why he didn't really care what Sandusky was doing as long as it didn't affect his program.
Now all of these fans who have so much of their identity wrapped up in PSU football can't handle their world crashing to the ground. It's pretty sad.
read this post quickly - it might not last long -
Re: Sigh.....PSU fans....
And you wonder why a lot of people wanted the program shut down for at least a year. The culture there isn't going to change with a slap on the wrist.

There are those PSU fans like you as well. I would probably be on that side of the fence as well because I have close friends that were in child sexual abuse cases.
Also think about this.... if CPR was our coach until he was 85, he would've coached 43 years and average a .750 win record (like Paterno and Bowden). We would win over 375 games. Let's add in a few Big 12 championships and a National Title. 5 undefeated regular seasons. Oh, let's also expand Jack Trice to 100,000+.
Yea you would think differently too....
