The premise of your argument is just plain dumb, that siphoning off funds from CFB would result in a net gain overall for the university and community. Whether you, and everyone else for that matter, like it or not, CFB is a business; their goal is to MAKE MONEY, not support outside organizations. If you want to do harm to business and give back to the community, make the banks and other multi-trillion dollar organizations give back 50% of their net revenue to the community, that will be more successful (and I'm a bank analyst, so it would be my loss in terms of business revenue). I'm gonna stop there before this finds the cave.

I think if ADs could cut out their portion of their budget that came from the state that would help out quite a bit. This would allow the states to funnel more money to the universities. Iowa already has done this and ISU is not too far behind. You have to remember that there are a lot of ADs that don't make any money either so taking 50% of their revenues would kill quite a few of them.

College football (with some help from men's hoops) essentially pays the bill for ALL of the other sports. You get that, right?
