If the lines truly are regressing, you can be truthful about it without throwing your players under the bus publicly. Just say something like "It continues to be an area that needs improvement, and we are working hard to come up with solutions to get the level of play up to the standard we need to be successful." Then give your specific criticisms to the players in the privacy of practice.

Actually, yes. I expect the head coach to take all the blame anytime his team loses. He's the one making millions, he's the one in charge of gameplans, and he's the one in charge of putting his players in the best position to succeed.
I think it may be alright to call out some groups of players if they appear to put in little effort. But he should also blame himself in the same breathe as he had obviously failed them as well. I don't think leach takes any blame.
Someone didn't read the link. Every time he does something like this he circles it back himself and how he and his staff failed to make things happen. If you play for Leach, you will be held accountable publicly.
