I don't see any momentum gained, NYC and DC markets careless about CFB.....

The only positive in this is if Iowa-Iowa State is a Big 10 network game in future years..... stupid big 10 network...
Oh we will fight, fight, fight for Iowa State, and may her colors ever fly!!! In Accordance with Prophecy -

Look at Mediacom here in Iowa. That was a messy fight and we're in the middle of Big10 football country. I doubt you'll get much support to increase fees because Rutgers was added to the conference.

Re: Maryland and Rutgers to Big 10?
It wouldn't cause that much of a shakeup if it happened, Maryland leaving probably doesn't de-stabilize the acc that much does it? Rutgers is a virtual free agent the way the Big East already imploded.
I don't do signatures. Blondes, brunettes, and red heads are a different story. -

Re: Maryland and Rutgers to Big 10?
This is a bad move by the BIG it puts them one step closer to the MAC since those 2 programs suck. They are getting another Iowa/Minnesota. It will kill the brand name. In turn its awesome for the Big 12 since its such a joke they are going after crappy schools.
They are doing it though to make sure they get per subscriber money from every TV set from NYC to DC...which is alot. But it comes at the cost of hurtsing the brand name.
I am PRAYING extremely hard that UConn gets left out by the ACC and Louisville gets invited instead.
Unfortunately last year the Boston College AD got in trouble for mouthing off about how he'd bend over backwards to make sure UConn never makes it to the ACC. That might help UConns cause to be the replacement.
As a Syracuse Alum I wish this happened earlier because I would have LOVED to have moved to the B1G with our historical rivals WVA preferably to Pitt. Since the Big ten sucks so much Cuse football would immediately return to the levels of McNabb or right after when Freeney was there (consistant 9 win seasons and cracking top 25 recruiting.) ACC will be OK but Big Ten would be perfect since its so overrated.
And if Cuse and WVA (or Pitt) went to the B1G it might have steered ND in that direction instead of the ACC.

I was enjoying the actual sport of football this season (up to today anyway) without having to listen to this realignment cr*p 24/7.

Re: Maryland and Rutgers to Big 10?
This would signal that the BigTen is interested in adding top tier markets for their networks without jeopardizing Ohio State's and Michigan's pathways to the Final Four. Add a couple of a major markets with a couple of doormats: makes sense all around. IF this happens, the Big12 should grab FSU and Clemson as soon as possible.

It's obvious the B10 doesn't care about being competitive

Maryland and Florida state didn't sign the new agreement with the $50mm buyout.

Re: Maryland and Rutgers to Big 10?
I'm sure that they looked at it, but to think that Maryland and Rutgers fans are going to force the DC and NYC cable companies to put the BTN on basic cable is ridiculous. Can you imagine the backlash when NYC cable subscribers find out their bill is going up a dollar a month because of the BTN? They will flip. Those are pro sports towns and for all the population around, they can't even outsell ISU in attendance.
Good job by the Big11 I guess, add TV sets but dilute the competition for tOSU and Michigan. Purely a money grab and I'd be a little embarrassed if I were a B11 fan.

NYC folks will pony up if they're forced to because it's packaged with the YES Network and their Yankee games. As much as I don't like the B1G, I think they know exactly what they're doing here and have their ducks in order. I do agree that they're diluting their product for money, but I can't say I blame them. If the Big 12 expanded, regardless of who it was, and it meant more $$ in our budget I'm sure JP would be asking where do I sign.
