I believe they give up lay ups if they don't get the steal. Almost all of their shots are 3 pointers. Theory is that 3 pointer is more then a lay up.

Not entirely true. The approach is statistically based. The goal is to shoot within 7 secs and more shots equals more rebounds and opportunity. They also run three lines a minute at a time then sub. It is fun to watch but a freak show.
