This is sounding like USC when Pete Carroll knew it was time to head back to the NFL as the money paid to Reggie Bush scandal broke. But USC was coming off multiple championship years/games and Heismans...
Best case scenario here for Eugene.... Auburn gets nailed for major NCAA violations and the Chiz is nailed with a show cause penalty virtually ending his coaching career.
I think his coaching will put an end to his coaching career.
If so then the NCAA has some explaining to do on why they allowed Newton to play.
I'm guessing there is no link, but maybe they can find some "other" link so they can strip the championship and still pretend they did right initially.
If you are winning you can get away with things like insisting that Cam Newton knew nothing even though he was quoted as saying that the money was "too much." However, losing is the unforgiveable sin.
I bet nearly every SEC (Sleazy Eastern Conference) team could be buried if the NCAA investigated. The "Southern Politics" that happens down their is ripe with under the table payouts for players and back alley deals. Just look at the other conferences that are in the same areas, mainly the ACC. They draw from the same talent pools in recruiting but for some reason ALWAYS (with a few exceptions to Florida State and Miami) lose the most talented to the SEC. The fact that Cheeeezdick got busted means that 1. He is really disliked by others in that conference and 2. He must be really stupid.
He should send a Thanksgiving Card to Tuberville for all the talent he recruited and coached prior to the championship year when Cheeeezwad took over.
Come on now, guys, we shouldn't be celebrating the downfall of Auburn or Gene Chizik.
Sincerely,
The Iowa State Daily.
